2010 Speaker Announced!

I just want to tell everyone how excited we are to announce the speaker for the 2010 Coastal Home Educators Conference, June 10th-12th:

 Dr. Jeff Myers

Jeff Myers, Ph.D. is the president of Passing the Baton International.  An experienced and captivating speaker, Jeff is also Associate Professor of Communication Studies at Bryan College where he teaches undergraduate and graduate leadership courses.

Joyce Glover and I heard him speak in Sumter this year at the South Carolina Home Educators Association Conference. With much prayer we feel that Jeff’s message of calling out leaders from among our young people and from our own generation is critical. We believe that if our church, homeschoolers, community and region hear this message that the Holy Spirit will move the coastal area of South Carolina and Georgia to action.

Dr. Myers is the author of seven books and five video coaching systems, including Understanding the Times, the curriculum that introduced biblical worldview training to Christian schools around the world. More than two million people have used Jeff’s training courses in worldview, leadership and communication.

He serves as chairman of the board of Colorado-based Summit Ministries, and is a member of the Summit Oxford International Board. Jeff and his family live in East Tennessee.

Dates for Next Year! CHEC 2010

Mark your calendars for June 10 – 12, 2010!

We’ve already started planning next year’s CHEC, but didn’t want to leave CHEC 2009 without a BIG THANK YOU to all our CHEC 2009 Attendees , Vendors , Volunteers and especially Mark Hamby of Lamplighter Publishing for helping make this year’s conference a success.

We hope you left feeling encouraged and equipped to better shepherd your children or grandchildren and to face those tough times with grace and endurance. It was our pleasure (and a lot of fun!) to host this event.

We have received many comments concerning how to improve CHEC for next year and will try to implement as many as possible. Serving lunch, extending the Book Blast and Vendor Hall times, providing better signage, more “encouragement” workshops and providing extended Childcare are all items we will be working on. If you have any other suggestions, please email us at CHEConference@aol.com

Our CHEC 2009 Vendor Hall was filled with some really fine companies showing the latest in educational products and services. We want to thank all the Vendors listed below who supported CHEC 2009! If you didn’t get a chance to see these Vendors at CHEC, please take a moment to view their website and see if you can use their products this year.

We are thinking about next year. How about you?

Did you make the trip to beautiful Beaufort for CHEC 2009? If so, we are so glad you came!

We were excited to see old friends and new! We are currently working on dates for next year’s CHEC. Boy,  it is difficult to plan a conference that doesn’t conflict with any other conferences or church activities… but we are going to try!

The Book Blast (used stuff) was a tremendous success this year,  and we have already had many positive comments from our new vendors as well!

How did you like the conference? Please email CHEConference@aol.com to tell us how you think CHEC could be improved upon. We are open to suggestions and truly want you to be as blessed by this event as we were!

We would also love you to fill out our survey at: 2009 Coastal Home Educators Conference Survey.

Thanks!

The Conference Begins!

The original name of my personal blog was Homeschooling Rules! 42-15638352

I changed it when I realized I really didn’t know that much about homeschooling.

I still don’t know that much about homeschooling, but I am growing in knowledge and wisdom.

I am excited about our annual homeschool/parenting conference that begins tonight at 7 pm.

We will have speakers, curriculum, used books and most importantly encouragement. The encouragement to continue home educating our children.

What is your goal for home education?

Well for many it is the best possible academics. For others it is a desire to live a separated life unto the Lord.

My husband and I want to spend every day living and learning with our kids about life and the Lord. I realized a long time ago that I cannot impart my faith to my children if I am not with them.

Mark Hamby promises to address many of the issues we face as parents this weekend, beginning with tonight’s session on Building Character in our children. I personally am looking forward to his talk on the Strong Willed Parent tomorrow night.

I promise that this weekend will not be a waste of time or money. I hope to meet you and see you there! char

Trouble registering online? and Update on Mark’s Speaking Engagements.

We are having a bit of trouble with online registrations right now. But don’t worry we were closing online registration tonight anyway! CB017781

You can still register On-Site the 4th – 6th and there is no late fee.

Also if you comment on this site before noon Thursday morning you will still be eligible for the $10.00 BOOK Blast Giveaway.  You must be registered to pick up your prize. So go ahead and leave a comment if you are planning to register on-site.

Mark has been non-stop speaking while he is here.

He spoke yesterday at a Christian Men’s luncheon and is speaking at another one today. Tonight he speaking at a church on Hilton Head. Please pray for him and for his energy level while he is here. Also pray that the Lord’s message would be clear and that Mark would speak empowered by the Holy Spirit and not in his own strength.

We are preparing for the opening address tomorrow night here at the Coastal Home Educators Conference.

We look forward to meeting everyone who plans to attend!
